EQT sells stake in NFI
EQT has sold a 30% stake in Nordic Ferry Infrastructure to Rederiaktiebolaget Gotland, Interogo Infrastructure and Danish fund Laegernes Pension as part of plans to modernise the company’s fleet.
The expansion of the investor base is said to support NFI’s next phase of development of its fleet through investment in decarbonisation and electrification, EQT said.
The firm is expected to target “selective growth” in exiting and new markets, alongside operational improvements.
NFI operates 59 routes with more than 100 vessels, servicing around 25 million passengers annually across Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
Rederiaktiebolaget Gotland is Sweden’s oldest passenger shipping company, while Switzerland-based Interogo Infrastructure is part of Interogo Holding.
Financial details were not disclosed. Deutsche Bank was sole financial adviser to EQT and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett was legal adviser. EQT will remain a majority shareholder in NFI.
The transaction is subject to customary conditions and approvals.
